Margins

You will most likely hear the term “margins” from your doctor. Margins are a way to understand if cancer has been removed or if some cancer cells are still present after prostate cancer surgery or biopsy. A “margin” refers to the edge of the tissue sample that a surgeon removes. Negative margins mean no cancer cells are found, and positive margins mean some cancer cells were traced. Your doctor might recommend additional treatments like radiation or hormone therapy if the report shows positive margins.
